an old, ancient, great fox spirit that ascended after merely 500 years and rised to the status of god. while being protected by a powerful swordsman who's life she once saved, she watched over a large mountain and the towns surrounding it, being worshipped by people and even having several temples dedicated to her. however, her popularity would lead to her downfall. another god, jealous of the people's devotion to her, used her own kindness against her and caused her death. leaving her protector behind in her place, she ascended to the heavens and bid her time, waiting to be able to come back.
⠀◇⠀she's often mistaken for tamamo no mae but in reality she is not associated with such an entity. instead, she's associated with inari, the goddess of foxes, fertility, rice, tea and sake, of agriculture and industry, of general prosperity and worldly success. however, she's not a direct descendant or familiar of that god, being an independant spirit ascended to god on her own efforts under inari's blessing. she was known as « akahana » meaning bright red flower, due to the clothing she often wore.
⠀◇⠀her origins are unknown but it is assumed she was born as a normal fox that eventually gained a human like consciousness, having then become a powerful spirit and later on ascended as a god.
⠀◇⠀though originally born in kyoto, japan, she has now taken up residence in korea and assimilated with the customs and culture there, though she still prays to inari and receives her blessing and assistance.

a long time ago, she had met a young man with whom she fell in love with. she stayed by his side, despite working as a kisaeng, and supported his political endeavors, for many years. watching him age, her heart ached as she could not age with him. unfortunately, he lost his life due to political strife and was killed without her being able to do anything for him. for some time after this, the fox retreated back into her shrine and hid from the world.
